Winnebago ARES holds a weekly net on Sundays at 7:00 PM local time. This
net is on the 147.24 KB9IME repeater. The offset is positive and requires
a CTCSS tone of 107.2 Hz. If there is a repeater failure then 146.52 MHz
simplex will be used. All stations are welcome to check in.
The following table gives assigned net control dates. If you cannot
make your date please take the responsibility to find a sub. It is
suggested that in this case you switch dates with someone.
It is also required that all ARES®/RACES members control the net at least
once per year, as this is a valuable training experience.
If you cannot take net on your assigned night, find a replacement
and e-mail the net manager, Troy Millman, KC9BEP at <troym at nextsoft.com>.
Net reports should be emailed to both Troy and Nick Luther <luthern at msoe.edu>.

Procedure / Preamble
Start the net with this preamble:
Calling the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (repeat). Your net
control for tonight is ______ my name is _____ and my location is _____.
This net is intended as a training session for emergency operators in
and around Winnebago County. It also serves as a forum for the discussion
and dissemination of ARES®/RACES matters. The net is open to
any station wishing to check in.
This is a controlled net, so any traffic, comments, or queries will
be handled by net control.
In the event of a repeater failure, the net will move to 146.52
simplex. Any stations with emergency, priority or time
valued traffic please call net control now.
(If any handle per SOP)
Mobile and portable stations, please call net control to check in now.
Now perform a roll call:
Winnebago ARES®/RACES stations, please respond to roll call.
The roster is available here.
Call each station. Note all check-ins and traffic offered.
That's the roster as I have it. I will now take check-ins from anyone
anywhere with or with out traffic. Please call net control now.
After all check-ins have been recorded and acknowledged begin handling
traffic.
Handle formal (written) traffic first, then informal traffic (IF), and
then questions if any. If there is a training exercise for this net,
execute it now. Ask again for any check-ins and if none close the net.
You are all welcome back next week at 19:00 L when ______ will be the net
control.
I will now secure the Winnebago Co ARES®/RACES net at ________ local time.
Thank you to all who checked in. The repeater is now returned to normal
amateur use.
We will not be doing second goes since the net is for training and
dissemination of information. The net should run as long as needed
to complete all traffic or other training issues or questions.
After the net is complete, you will need to send the net manager and EC
the list of stations
which checked in, the net start and end time, and traffic
offered/accepted counts with an explanation.
